Many people are fond of Rolex which is now popular with its mechanical timepieces, however, have you ever seen the wristwatches of Rolex with quartz movement? Someone will be surprised to say, doesn’t Rolex only manufacture the wristwatches with automatic movement? In fact, Rolex had been producing the quartz fake watches for 30 years, that is from 1970 to 2001.
The first quartz Rolex is the version Ref.5100 which attended the Baselworld in 1970 for is first appearance, of which the amount was limited to 1000 pieces. Made from solid 18k yellow gold, Rolex imitation watch with yellow gold bracelet could preserve its beauty for a long time and sturdiness and durability had been guaranteed well. It is equipped with calibre Beta 21 which was used by Omega and Enicar too. What’s more, the significant model was the first version of Rolex to be equipped with sapphire crystal and quick-setting date system. Therefore, Ref.5100 was quite expensive at that time and the brand also treated it specially.
There’s not any similarity between Ref. 5100 and the all the modern Rolex. Rolex knockoff with quartz movement features a rounded fluted bezel and barrel-shaped case which is quite different from the timepieces of Rolex in these days for we all know Rolex always has adorned its models with full curves which are blended in harmony. Unlike any previous Rolex, the large three-link bracelet has been permanently fixed to the case and has nothing to do with the symbolic oyster bracelet from Rolex. It was said that the Ref. 5100 was designed by Master Gerald Genta for the overall design of the case and bracelet looks like Audemars Piguet Royal-Oak very much.
